Macelleria Bondi has been honoured with the AGFG Reader’s Choice Award, voted by diners through the Australian Good Food Guide.
Unlike critic-driven awards, the Reader’s Choice is decided by the people who actually eat here – the locals who wander in after a swim, the families who’ve made us their Friday night ritual, the visitors who found us on Campbell Parade and came back the next night. You voted, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Why this one matters to us
We’ve been lucky enough to pick up some big recognition over the years — a top-5 spot in Big 7 Travel’s world steak restaurant rankings, a feature on Netflix’s Ugly Delicious with David Chang. Those were surreal. But an award voted by our own diners hits differently. It tells us the simple things we care about are the things you care about too: honest, butcher-quality cuts, cooked simply on the open grill, served without fuss.
Consistency is key
The butcher’s counter is still the heart of the room. The steaks are still grass-fed, dry-aged between 30 and 42 days, and chosen by you from the display. And we still don’t take bookings – just walk in, any day of the week, and we’ll find you a table.
